Why the centre and not a suburb

In Thessaloniki the centre is a practical advantage. From Ladadika, where Loena sits, the tavernas are 2 minutes on foot, Tsimiski 3 and Aristotelous 9. No car, no bus timetable, no plan for getting anywhere. Stay in a suburb or outside the ring road and every evening out has to be organised in advance. From the centre that same evening is a walk. It counts on every day of a stay, because you keep the hours you would have spent moving, and the city stays open to you at lunchtime and at midnight.

The shape of the centre

The centre of Thessaloniki is one specific axis. It runs from Ladadika to Aristotelous Square and along Tsimiski, the old commercial heart of the city between the port and the market. Food, drink, shopping and the monuments sit within a few blocks of one another. From Aristotelous the seafront carries you down to the White Tower, 23 minutes from our door. From Tsimiski you climb toward the Arch of Galerius and the Byzantine walls of Ano Poli. Loena stands inside that core, at 13 Ernestou Emprar in Ladadika.

What 30 m² gives you

A hotel room gives you a bed. Here you have somewhere to live. The Loena suites are 30 m², with a queen-size bed and an extra single for up to three guests, a full kitchen with a Nespresso machine, a fridge, an iron on request, and access to the shared washing machine on the floor. In practice you get breakfast whenever you wake up, a light meal without going out, and clean clothes for the next evening. Ordinary life carries on instead of pausing for the trip. Fast Wi-Fi, a smart TV, air conditioning and regular housekeeping keep the place in order, so the independence of an apartment and the upkeep of a managed property arrive together.

Distances from our door

Everything below is measured from our entrance at a normal walking pace. Guests choose this address for those numbers, because most of a day in Thessaloniki fits inside ten minutes on foot. Self check-in starts at 15:00 and checkout is by 11:00. Photo directions for the discreet entrance go out before you travel. Drivers use a partner garage 250 m away, open 24/7, at extra cost, which helps in a dense and partly pedestrianised quarter where street parking is not realistic.

Before you book

If you are still weighing where to stay, the centre puts you inside the core, on foot everywhere, in a space that works as a home for the length of the trip. Rates, availability and the cancellation terms attached to each rate change by season, and you see all three on the booking engine before you confirm. For anything else we answer on WhatsApp. Start with the suite, the quarter and how parking works.

Good to know

The quarter is audible on weekend nights.

We keep working on the soundproofing.

It is an old commercial building.

The entrance is discreet and about 20 steps lead up to a small lift. Before you arrive we send directions with photographs of the way in.

“Great central location, new rooms on the 4th floor with a small bit adequate elevator.”

There is no front desk.

Self check-in from 15:00, with simple instructions. Anything you would ask a front desk, we answer on WhatsApp.

“There was no reception and you have password for accessing the room. Everything was nice.”
M. Selçuk, April 2025
“We arrived by car but didn’t use it at all during our stay, as we could easily walk to all the main sights, restaurants and shops.”

Frequently asked questions

Which part of the city centre is best?

The most practical core is the axis from Ladadika through Aristotelous to Tsimiski, where food, drink, shopping, the port and the monuments sit inside a few blocks. Loena is inside Ladadika, at 13 Ernestou Emprar, with the tavernas 2 minutes away and Tsimiski 3. That suits anyone who wants the city outside the door.

Do I need a car?

Not for the centre. Nearly everything you will want is within ten minutes of the entrance on foot, and the White Tower is a 23-minute walk. Arriving by car, street parking in a partly pedestrianised quarter is not realistic, so we work with a garage 250 m from the entrance, open 24/7, at extra cost. From the airport you come in by taxi, by bus, or by a private transfer we arrange on request at extra cost.

What time is check-in?

Self check-in starts at 15:00, and nobody has to meet you. Before you arrive we send photo directions for the discreet entrance and the small lift. Checkout is by 11:00. A late flight or a changed plan makes no difference, because you let yourself in whenever you reach the building. Anything that comes up, we answer on WhatsApp.

Is the area noisy?

Yes. On weekend nights Ladadika comes alive and the sound rises with it. Weekdays are noticeably calmer, and most guests sleep through them without a thought.
